I mean, I'm upset that this game probably killed all hopes of Descent 3rd Edition, but I admit it looks really good. I just have no connection to the LOTR (just not a movie/book person) and I feel it's too limiting to my imagination seeing as most of the characters and story are set in stone by now. Also, the app seems to be VERY intrusive compared to the Descent one. At one point, you guys show yourselves telling the app how much individual damage you're putting on a monster. The apps for Descent and IA don't have you put in every microbit of information. It looks like this will need to be played on a tablet or a laptop (both of which I lack. Was glad when they got rid of the music as it was too loud and you couldn't hear what was being said. Great playmat however the tiles were lost in it plus the camera was too far away and you couldn't see what they were doing. Some close ups would've been nice. Also don't get why so many tiles are being revealed before a character gets there. One improvement you (FFG) should make to the app if you read any of these comments. How about showing painted versions of the minis on the app. Not unpainted. Better still use art.

I've just got one question: Can you play solo with a single character? Or do you have to control a minimum of 2 or 3. Do i need the app? i realy dont like haveing to frak with apps much in my boardgames. Prone to AP. I've pre-ordered this one a while ago mainly because of the theme - unfortunately I didn't know it would use mini cards that much. otherwise I wouldn't have pre-ordered it because I just hate mini-cards when they are the majority and the core of a game. Don't like how small the artwork is presented in this type of cards, it's also a bit more annoying to read those small texts. But that's my personal preference, not saying it's a negative for a boardgame - although it's the case for my taste.
So... The original LINK game for the NES. Turned into a board game, with LotR theme. Boss. Just a head's up (intended as constructive criticism) that this review was uncomfortable to watch. I don't think it was intentional, instead maybe a result of the fact that Jeremy and Ryan may be closer friends, but it definitely led to the impression that it was a review where two guys discussed the game, and a woman chimed in occasionally. As an experiment to see what I mean, disregard all footage where Ryan or Kira are speaking, and just watch how Jeremy speaks. He alternates between speaking directly to the camera, and speaking to Ryan, with a very occasional glance or question to include Kira too. The impression this gives is that despite allowing a woman a seat at the table, her opinion remains less valued than that of a male colleague. Again, I expect this is all unintentional, but after a few minutes, it made me cringe and have a hard time focusing on the review. Hopefully pointing it out is helpful feedback for future segments.

Really want this game b/c I like the IP and I like RPGs in a box. According to the Let's Plays I really wonder about all these positive aspects. It looks so repetitive with a very generic storyline and really thin on gameplay. So a typical modern FFG game for the mainstream market.

I played this before in P2 I am in p2. Is it me or it doesn't look good? 1. Boring gameplay. Move or Fight and take cards to see if you succeeded, looks boring as hell and so, so random. Additionally you shuffle your cards every round, the only way to mitigate the luck is by preparing a few cards at the beginning of the round but it's still so random. You go to a random event and you don't know whether you will have to pass an agility test or what, so you can't plan anything. Boring and random. 2. Design. Small cards are just bad because you need to constantly shuffle them, and although the travel map tiles look alright the closed-up battle map tiles look just awful! These are so ugly in comparison to games like Descent, Folklore: the Affliction, Gloomhaven and so on. And the look will get tired quickly since the layout will vary only in minor details. 3. No meaningful decisions. You do something, you pick random cards and see if you succeeded. Of course you can apply something that you prepared to increase your odds but there is no real decision making, every time they did anything in this gameplay there was only 1 real best option to choose and that's it. The rest was random. And the adventure felt boring, generic, uninspired.
